I am looking at swapping the engine with a Kohler MT-18. Just wondering if it is possible to do this with out a lot of fabricating.Tractor is a 1984 Cub Cadet 782 with 1275 hours. The motor is a Kohler 17hp Series II. It has a new seat, the battery is from 6/23. The deck is 44" with new belt and blades. It has the hydraulic lift...When put the hydro under a load the shafts slips. An easy check is to Watch the pump shaft that comes out the rear of the pump. It should spin with the even when you stop the tires. You might also want to check the charge relief valve to make sure it isn’t stuck partially open. I find all kinds of conflicting info on how to drain and refill the transmission / hydro in my 782. I read where you need to remove the differential cover....and that the fluid is so thick it takes hours to refill. I bought the Cub Cadet HiTran fluid from one of the sponsors here. It is like ATF fluid and not thick at all.What year was my equipment built? Solution. My customer's 782 had the Carter fully adjustable carb. The Walbro is a fixed high speed jet style, and in my opinion, pure trash. I would be seeking a much better Carter/Kohler fully adjustable unit. Those carb parts I listed are for the Carter/Kohler style carb. Last edited: Nov 13, 2023.Depress the brake and turn the key, nothing. It wouldn't turn over or anything. I took the switch out and put a test light on it and wasn't getting power to the solenoid when key was turned. Cleaned the contacts on the switch and on the harness plug abs still nothing then one time it started right up..
