The 338 has less wind drift, more energy, longer life. The 300 RUM was the rage and craze when it first came out. I fell for it twice. The 338 Edge is everything the 300 RUM was suppose to be only even better. Ability to use other powders form reduced peak pressure +100-110 fps. Reduced pressure from SMK to Berger VLD +20-25 fps. Case capacity from Rem to Bertram (-3.5 gr) - 75-80 fps. So in summary on the 338 Edge +P, 1000+ rounds at the performance level of 3000 fps w 300 Berger's.Switching from H1000 to 8133 didn't cure your pressure problems, you just simply started too high with H1000. Starting at 89.5 was too high for your particular rifle.
